Emilia Pérez grote winnaar European Film Awards

Gisterenavond zijn in het Zwitserse Luzern de European Film Awards 2024 uitgereikt. Grote winnaar was Emilia Pérez. De film van Jacques Audiard maakte kans op vijf prijzen en verzilverde alle nominaties, waaronder die voor beste film. De Nederlandse coproductie Armand kreeg de Prix Fipresci van de internationale filmpers.

In de belangrijkste categorie, die voor beste film, had Emilia Pérez concurrentie van veertien andere films, waaronder The Substance en Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat. Na een verandering van het wedstrijdreglement konden dit jaar voor het eerst ook documentaires en animatiefilms worden genomineerd voor de belangrijkste prijs.

Jacques Audiard stond zelf maar liefst drie keer op het podium. Niet alleen als producent om de prijs voor beste film in ontvangst te nemen, maar ook als beste regisseur en schrijver van het beste scenario. Hoofdrolspeelster Karla Sofia Gascón werd onderscheiden als beste actrice. Eerder al won Emilia Pérez een EFA voor de montage.
